Where to find Therapy

Let's talk therapy. You may be thinking that this isn't the most exciting of topics, but is a very important one. Why is that?
A lot of people associate the word "therapy" with people who need to be in a hospital or they have a chronic "condition". For some people you may suggest therapy and all of the sudden they get defensive. I know a couple of people who are like that. I know I was defiantly very weary with the thought of having to go to therapy. I had the same notion that if I went to therapy, then there must be something wrong with me. And I really didn't want that. In all reality, just because you go to therapy doesn't necessarily mean any of that. So then what does it mean? Honestly, what it really means, is that you care about your well-being.
A therapist may be able to give you a perspective of your situation maybe you didn't see. They also very good if you need to just rant about things in your life. I would know. I've done that many times with my therapist. The best thing about it is that they can't repeat anything you say unless you give them your permission. So no one is going to know that your Aunt Mary annoyed you until you were ready to stranger her. But on a serious note, you can talk to your therapist about anything. Some married people go to therapy just to understand each other better, and not necessarily because they fight. My own mother actually went to therapy for a a little while after we got into a car accident. When I was very little I had a phobia that I just couldn't get over, and my parents didn't know what to do about it. So they took me to a therapist. Over some time, I actually was able to overcome my phobia.
Now, I am not saying that a therapist is going to "cure" you of whatever it is you see them for. But when you apply there guidance, you will definitely see improvements in your situation.
Now where can you find therapists? You can actually do some research of therapists in your own area. Some will allow telehealth communication while others require that you come in person. I personally prefer telehealth simply because of convince. But you may feel more better talking to a person right in front of you in a quiet room.
Another option for finding a therapist would be to go online. I personally use BetterHelp. They have may qualified therapist that you can chose from. And the nice thing thing about it is if you don't like the therapist, you can request to change therapists for no extra cost. I know for me that is very important, because I went threw a few therapists before I found one I really clicked with. Another really nice feature I appreciate is their journal. You can write about your day, your feelings, or even rant. Plus no one will see your entries so you don't have to worry about embarrassing yourself. But if you feel like you want your therapist to see your entry, there is a button that allows you to do so. I've actually done this a couple of times so my therapist understood what was going on between sessions. Although they do have a chat feature that allows to contact your therapist anytime you need to. I actually didn't know this when I signed up, but now I'm glad about it, but when you schedule a session with your therapist they will give options for how you want to communicate. For example, my therapist has the options of "chat" and "over the phone". I personally like chat because of my fear of talking over the phone. The chat lets me feel like I'm simply texting with my friends. For other therapist they allow video call. But it really depends on the therapist.
How much does therapy cost? That's the big question, isn't it? Well, that really depends on where you go, who you see, and the insurance you have. I'll be honest with you, I'm not going to sugar coat this. Therapy can be on the pricey side. That's another reason why I signed up with BetterHelp. It's a lot more affordable than offline therapists. And even if you still can't afford that, they have a financial aid program. This was a big help to me, personally.
But don't let costs discourage you. In the whole, therapy is very much worth it. I can't tell you how many times my therapist has really and truly changed my life, and even in some cases, saved my life.
